This project analyzes the matching between entrepreneurs/start-ups and venture capitalists. Using a big dataset of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, we want to understand who matches with whom in this market, which characteristics of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists matter most in the matching process and what are the trade-offs that agents face when searching for a match. We also want to analyze how matching patterns, search frictions and the “quality” of matches vary over the business cycle.
