New Econometrics Courses

We have two new econometric courses begining the 2018-19 academic year. Econ 117, Introduction to Data Analysis and Econometrics, and Econ 123, Intermediate Data Analysis and Econometrics.

Econ 131 is no longer offered. The new courses cover the topics of Econ 131 but with greater opportunities for students to see modern economic applications and to do hands on data analysis. Students who have taken Econ 131 will not receive major credit for Econ 117. They may take Econ 123 or go directly to Econ 132.

Although we recommend that majors take two econometric courses, particularly if they are interested in writing a thesis, any one of Econ 117, 123, 131, 132 or 135 fulfills the econometric requirement for the major. Beginning with the class of 2021, two semesters of econometrics are required to write a senior thesis.
