Founded in 1994, the Urban Fellows program gives students a stipend to serve at a community organization (be it government or nonprofit) here in New Haven. Fellows serve 6-8 hours a week, and meet once a week as a cohort to discuss their service. The goal of Urban Fellows is to encourage students to think critically about urban issues, and about their place in the broader New Haven community. Fellows also gain valuable workplace experience in a wide variety of settings dealing with a range of topics.
