Impacts of Climate Change: Floods Preparedness in South Asia
In many flood-prone regions, disaster preparedness infrastructure plays a critical role in protecting communities from devastating impacts of climate change. While many strategies such as forecasting and emergency response plans are being implemented to manage large scale flooding, small hyperlocal flooding events continue to pose challenges. Yale Inclusion Economics (YIE) is looking for one or more research assistants to support work on understanding investments in disaster-preparedness infrastructure in flood-prone villages. The RA will also examine how local decision-makers impact the prioritization and allocation of disaster-preparedness funds.
Requisite Skills and Qualifications:
The RA will assist with literature reviews, data collection and cleaning, and quantitative analysis using econometric software such as R or STATA. Depending on skill set, the RA may also contribute to data scraping or visualization using Python. Knowledge of Hindi is a plus.
