Gender-Sensitive Policy for Social and Economic Inclusion
In many low- and middle-income countries, women face persistent barriers to social and economic inclusion. These include limited access to labor markets, public programs and state services, financial systems and digital tools, information and skills, as well as restrictive social norms and adverse intra-household dynamics. Understanding how these overlapping constraints shape women’s economic opportunities is central to effective policy design.
Yale Inclusion Economics (YIE) is seeking one or more Research Assistants to support rigorous, data-driven research on how public programs and innovative solutions can expand women’s economic participation and agency.
Research Assistants will have the opportunity to contribute to key stages of the research process, including study development, exploratory quantitative analysis, data cleaning, and advanced empirical analysis in Kenya or India.
Requisite Skills and Qualifications:
Depending on their skillset, Research Assistants will support a range of research tasks, including:
-Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing empirical research related to gender, public policy, and economic inclusion;
-Cleaning, managing, and analyzing large survey and administrative datasets;
-Writing reproducible code to conduct data quality checks and econometric analysis using R, Stata, and/or Python.
Strong quantitative and programming skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. Skill and experience with econometrics software such as R or STATA to run econometric analysis is required, Python knowledge is valuable. Prior coursework or experience in applied microeconomics, development economics, statistics, or related fields is an asset. Successful RAs will be detail oriented and able to work independently.
