Active Shooter Drills: Unanticipated Consequences
Given increased attention to school gun violence, many districts have implemented mandatory active shooter drills. Yet these drills can be traumatic for students. This project seeks to assess the impact of active shooter drills on youth mental health and behavior, by matching school policy data to local youth and young adult outcomes.
Requisite Skills and Qualifications:
Research assistance is sought to compile critical data on active shooter drill protocols and match it to individual-level data in Stata, as well as conduct preliminary data cleaning and analyses under Dr. Friedman’s guidance. The ideal candidate should be familiar with Stata (proficiency is a plus), have completed at least one econometrics course, and be able to work independently with strong attention to detail.
