Cognitive Impairment and Healthcare Utilization before and during the COVID-19 Pandemic

I am looking for research assistance to examine the role played by cognitive impairment on healthcare utilization before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Cognitive impairment of various stages is common among the aging population and may incur substantial care and financial burden on family and society, especially for vulnerable populations when healthcare systems are being stretched. The study will be based on a retrospective, longitudinal cohort design using 2000-2020 Health and Retirement Survey (HRS), matched with COVID-19-related questions, the psychosocial self-administered questionnaire, and COVID-19 US state policy database. We will leverage within-individual variation and state-level policy variation to examine the relationship between cognitive impairment and basic healthcare choices among American older adults. Special attention will be given to those who are less educated, disabled, and racial/ethnic minorities.

Requisite Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for a research assistant who will conduct some literature reviews and assist with data analysis. Knowledge of STATA and ability to work with survey data are required skills.
