The Supply of Graduate Education

This project will involve working with Professors Altonji and Humphries to develop early-stage work on the expansion of graduate education in the United States since World War II. In particular, the project aims to understand where graduate education expanded, which programs were offered, and how access differed by race and gender. The project is part of a larger research agenda aimed at evaluating the returns to graduate education.

This project is in an early stage and is an opportunity to be directly involved with the research process. The research assistant will work directly with the Professors Altonji and Humphries on the cleaning and analysis of multiple large data sets, and have opportunities for learning important research skills such as working with multiple large data sets, data visualization, data analysis, and machine learning.

Requisite Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in statistical/econometric software packages such as stata and R are essential, though we are happy to consider applicants with basic knowledge and enthusiasm to learn quickly. Prior experience with Latex and Git, and training in econometrics, statistics, and data science are also a plus, though not required. Experience working with large data sets, while not required, is also a plus.
