Eduardo Dávila Named Assistant Professor

The Department of Economics welcomes Eduardo Dávila, appointed as an assistant professor beginning fall 2019. Teaching at New York University Stern School of Business since July 2014, Professor Dávila is currently a visiting faculty member at Yale this academic year. This fall, he is co-teaching the General Economic Theory: Microeconomics course (ECON 500a) with John Geanakoplos and Larry Samuelson. In the spring, he will teach Financial Theory (ECON 251b) and co-teach Mathematical Economics II (ECON 531b) with Cowles visitor Nicolas Werquin.

Professor Dávila’s research interests lie at the intersection of finance and macroeconomics, with an emphasis on normative questions. He has recently studied the welfare implications of pecuniary externalities, the optimal determination of financial transaction taxes, the optimal design of bankruptcy exemptions, the effects of bank size on financial fragility, and different aspects of how financial markets aggregate information. He was given the Top Finance Graduate Award 2014, recognizing him as one of the most promising financial economics Ph.D. graduates worldwide.

Professor Dávila earned a B.A. in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.
