Our Community
Yale Department of Economics is uniquely situated both intellectually and geographically to give students access to a wide range of ideas and experiences.
Economics at Yale
Yale Economics is the hub of a network of economists and social scientists working across Yale’s professional schools, including...
...as well as the Centers linked to the department:
The Department has a history of both contributing scholars to, and drawing from, the wider Yale community. Read about how Susan Rose-Ackerman and Sharon Oster, two of Yale’s earliest women economics professors, went on to shape the communities at the Law School and School of Management.
The Department, in conjunction with the Economic Growth Center, hosts a one-year Masters in International Development Economics (IDE). The IDE program is intended to develop the skillsets of future practitioners, economic analysts, and Ph.D. students.
The heart of the Northeast
Located midway between Boston and New York, Yale offers easy access to the many intellectual and cultural institutions along the Northeast Corridor. New Haven itself is a lively town of manageable size, offering cultural opportunities and events, many hidden gems, beautiful hikes and, of course, America’s best pizza.
A forum for collaboration
Students at Yale Economics enjoy many opportunities to interact with each other as well as with faculty, alumni, and guest speakers – in the classroom and at the weekly seminars, lunches, and other events offered to the community. It is a vibrant atmosphere where ideas collide, sparking projects.
