Stata Software

Stata is a widely-used integrated software package that provides data manipulation, visualization, and statistical capabilities.  The university has a license for Stata MP2 v18 for use by faculty, staff and students on campus-owned machines and off campus on personal machines for academic use. The software is available for download to local or remote machines and is installed on Yale Library’s public and cloud machines, and at YCRC.

January 2, 2025 Update

Central IT has obtained a site license for Stata MP4 to replace the University’s previous Stata MP2 site license that expired on December 27, 2024.

The current Stata MP4 license will be active through June 30, 2025. This shortened license period is an interim step to align future annual licensing periods with the University’s fiscal year starting on July 1.

How do I obtain an updated license key for Stata?

  • Users can obtain a license key for Stata from the Software Library at this link.
  • As part of the ordering process, faculty and staff users will be asked to submit a University COA to be charged a $174 licensing fee for the current 6-month license period (prorated from $348/annual).
  • Faculty and staff should enter their research account COA. Reach out to your administrative support staff if unsure of the appropriate COA.
  • Student users can obtain a license key from the Software Library at no cost.
