Yale welcomes Michael Woodford as the Kumho Visiting Professor

Michael Woodford, the John Bates Clark Professor of Political Economy at Columbia University, is visiting the Department of Economics for the academic year 2013/14 as the Kumho Visiting Professor. Mike Woodford has made fundamental contributions to the theory and practical analysis of monetary policy. His research includes pioneering work on the role of expectations and communication in the implementation of monetary policy. His book, Interest and Prices: Foundations of a Theory of Monetary Policy, has become the standard reference for monetary theory and analysis. Woodford is a former MacArthur Foundation Prize Fellowship winner, a fellow of the Econometric Society, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Woodford will give several lectures and workshop presentations on his research, and we are looking forward to having him as a colleague.
