Samuelson Reappointed Cowles Director

Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Tamar Gendler, announced that Larry Samuelson has been reappointed director of the Cowles Foundation. His term will be for three years, effective July 1, 2017. “He has shown exceptional leadership during his first term, and we are delighted that he is willing to continue in this important role,” said Dean Gendler in her announcement message.

Samuelson, is the Douglass Melamed Professor of Economics at Yale University. He joined Yale in 2008, having previously served 10 years as a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Econometric Society, and is also the sitting president of the Game Theory Society.

His research is concerned with game theory, microeconomic theory, repeated games, and evolutionary foundations of economic behavior. His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Hewlett Foundation.
