Department Welcomes Philipp Strack

Philipp Strack will join the department as an associate professor in fall 2019. Coming from UC, Berkeley where he has taught since 2014, Professor Strack is a microeconomic theorist who studies peoples’ behavior in dynamic situations. Applications of his work focus on learning under overconfidence, revenue maximizing sale of airplane tickets, dynamic ad-word auctions, optimal unemployment benefits, and the effect of competition on individual motivation.

Professor Strack has published articles in EconometricaJournal of Economic Theory, and American Economic Review, among others.

He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the Bonn Graduate School of Economics, and, holds a Diploma of Mathematics and a Diploma of Economics from the University of Bonn.
