The Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences has announced it will include the Department of Economics as part of its Emerging Scholars Initiative (ESI) for post-baccalaureate students wishing to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics. The ESI Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (ESI PREP) is open to recent college graduates interested in a Ph.D. and will span over a two-year period for students applying to the Economics program.

The ESI-PREP experience is intended to provide program participants with a foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to be successful graduate students. Specific objectives for the program participants are:

  1. To experience life as a graduate student at a major research university, taking courses, doing research and receiving mentoring alongside first year Ph.D. students.

  2. To study an educational curriculum that consists of research literature seminars, graduate school and career workshops, and GRE preparation.

All are welcome to apply, however, candidates must be US citizens or US permanent residents.  Recent graduates who are from backgrounds that have been underrepresented in their chosen fields of study, including, historically underrepresented minority students, first-generation college graduates, students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, or women in some STEM fields, are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Graduate School is taking applications through February 28, 2019.

For additional information on the program, visit the PREP webpage on the Yale Graduate School website.
