The Effect of Energy Efficiency Standards on the Air Conditioners Market
Air conditioning is one of the largest sources of residential and commercial electricity demand, and thus is an important generator of emissions. Research assistance is needed on a project exploring how energy efficiency standards influence the choice of product characteristics, and subsequent sales, of air conditioners of different efficiencies. The project will leverage rich data from a large national retailer to examine how standards influence the product space and the demand for different air conditioners. The RA will assist with compiling product characteristics data and performing exploratory data analysis of the product space of air conditioners.
Requisite Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate can not only scour the internet for data, but also write code to scrape product attribute data off websites. The candidate will also have the capacity to perform exploratory data analysis in a language such as R or Stata.
