Effect of New York City’s Mandatory Commercial Building Energy Audits

The RA would work on an on-going project examining New York City’s Local Laws 84 and 87. Mandatory buildings energy audits and retro-commissioning (i.e., updating building energy efficiency) are required for large commercial buildings based on the last digit of their tax code, creating a natural experiment that can be exploited to understand the causal effect of the policy. The RA will assist with data analysis and a survey of building energy managers.
