Subsidized Early Childhood Education, Women’s Labor Force Participation, and Children’s Educational Attainment

This project aims to understand how access to free or highly subsidized pre-kindergarten programs affect the labor supply decisions of young mothers as well as later educational outcomes of students. The research fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in the early stages of this project and will aid in building a database of available childcare and pre-K options for children between the ages of 3 and 4 in Connecticut. The fellow will conduct both quantitative and qualitative research on the various state, local, and national childcare subsidies offered in Connecticut, and the overlapping eligibility for such programs.
