Mingtong Sui
Mingtong (Jack) is a graduate student pursuing Master in International and Development Economics degree at Yale University. Prior to Yale, he received a Bachelor Degree with honors in Economics from Boston College, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
During his time at Boston College, his writing of the honor thesis “Assessing the Variation in SNAP Participation Rate Across States” explored how the state level political atmosphere, measured by probabilities of potential interactions between people with opposite political views, impacts household's food insecurity status and SNAP participation rate. Later, his reading of "Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty" sparked his interest in further exploring the behavior of people who suffer from poverty.
He also has experience in different corporate finance functions, including FP&A, valuation, and internal audit, through his summer internships at Advent International’s finance team, EY’s SaT practice, and Wolfspeed’s finance team.
Looking ahead, Jack is committed to better understanding development issues and finding ways to evaluate and potentially offer advices on related policies through his future pursue of a PhD degree.
Outside of school, Jack is a huge fan of skiing, billiard, and basketball. He also enjoys watching sci-fi movies and Japanese anime.
