Sunteng Yu

IDE Student

Sunteng Yu is an M.A. student in the IDE program, whose research interests include development economics and political economy. Originally from China, he has an abiding passion for East Asian countries’ economic modernization, exploring topics like the sustainable development of China and the economic revitalization of Japan. Prior to Yale, he majored in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), double-majored in Financial Technology, and minored in Japanese Language and Literature at Renmin University of China (RUC). During his degree, he worked at the Market Economy Research Center of Peking University as a research assistant and at China Securities Co., Ltd. as an intern. He graduated as one of the three undergraduate award winners of the Wu Yuzhang Scholarship (the highest student honor of RUC) in 2023, with a B.A. in Law and a B.A. in Economics. He is a native Chinese speaker and proficient in Japanese.
