Ziqian (Leah) Liu
Ziqian (Leah) Liu is a graduate student at Yale, pursuing a master’s degree in International and Development Economics. She previously earned a BA in Economics from McGill University, where she was recognized on the Dean’s Honour List. Before joining Yale, Ziqian interned at the China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology, a think tank that focuses on macroeconomic phenomena and policy analysis. Subsequently, she worked as a research assistant at McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management, investigating ethnic minority representation in the U.S. labor market. Ziqian's research interests encompass development policy analysis, poverty and inequality, labor economics, and gender economics. During her undergraduate studies, she engaged in various research projects related to economic policy evaluation, income inequality, and women’s empowerment. With a strong foundation in research and academic exploration, Ziqian aspires to devise effective strategies to mitigate poverty and bridge gender disparities, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable society amidst the complexities of the global economy.
