Professors Joseph Doyle, Alexey Makarin, and Benjamin Vatter are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work as full-time pre-doctoral researchers. The appointments will entail close collaboration at all stages of the research process on new and ongoing empirical projects in applied economics.  Projects will use large-scale health and healthcare data to answer questions related to the optimal choices by patients, providers, and payers that affect health and healthcare costs and the impact of digital platforms such as social media on health.  Empirical tools will include natural experiments, randomized trials, and structural estimation in the fields of health economics, public economics, and industrial organization. 

This position offers the opportunity to gain training in a broad set of economic research topics and statistical methodologies. The chosen candidate will also gain valuable experience analyzing large datasets working with programs such as Stata, R, and/or Python.
