Research Professional
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as a full-time research professional for a period of one to two years. This position is ideal for those who plan to apply for a Ph.D. in finance, economics or related fields. It offers an opportunity to gain
exposure to and training in all stages of the research process. You will work on research projects using U.S. administrative tax data and will be supervised by Carnegie Mellon University Professor Matthew Denes, University of Pittsburgh Professor Spyros Lagaras and
Cornell University Professor Margarita Tsoutsoura.
The primary duties for a research professional include: (i) obtain and manipulate data from various sources, (ii) construct and analyze data using statistical software packages, and (iii) assist with the production of working papers and publications.
Ideal candidates for this position will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field
• Ability to work with statistics software, such as Stata or SAS
• Familiarity with programming languages, such as Python
• Be able to work independently to solve problems
The position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. It offers a living stipend of $55,000 plus benefits, which includes health insurance and the opportunity to enroll in courses. You will be able to participate in the academic life at the Tepper School of Business, including the ability
to attend research seminars and interact with faculty and Ph.D. students. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
