Mathematical Analysis and Simulation of a Queuing System

A queuing model of a problem that arises in the space industry has been set up and partly analyzed, which involves solving a set of Markov chain balance equations. A number of additional analyses are required to complete the project: (1) proof of the solution needs to be tightened up; (2) numerical experiments based on the derived analytical solution need to be performed in order to verify the solution and compare it with those of other well-known queuing models; (3) discrete event simulation needs to be performed in order to explore how the model extends to the situations where model assumptions are relaxed.

Requisite Skills and Qualifications

Strong mathematical background; experience with numerical simulations using Python or other coding environments; familiarity with stochastic processes models (Markov chains, queueing models) is preferred.
