Navin Kartik is Professor of Economics at Yale University. His main areas of research are in microeconomic theory and political economy, specifically on topics in game theory and information economics. He received his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Brandeis University in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in 2004. Prior to joining Yale in 2025, he was on the faculty of Columbia University for 17 years and prior to that, at UC San Diego. He has been a visiting faculty at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, the University of Chicago, Princeton University, and Yale University. In 2010, he was awarded a Sloan Research Fellowship by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation "to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise". He is an elected Fellow of the Econometric Society and the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory. In 2023 he received the Lenfest Distinguished Faculty award at Columbia. He has received multiple grants from the National Science Foundation, and multiple teaching and Ph.D. advising awards. His research has been published by the best economics journals such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Review of Economic Studies. He has served on the editorial boards of a number of top economics journals. He is currently Lead Editor of the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics.
