Research Assistant (Fall 2019)

Position Description: The Justice Collaboratory is seeking a Research Assistant to work this Fall with Yale Law School Professors Tracey Meares and Tom Tyler, and our research team.

The Justice Collaboratory is a research center embedded in the Yale Law School. We conduct empirical social science research, both experimental and observational, to inform criminal justice policy research.

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in multivariate statistics and drawing causal inferences from experimental and observational data. Candidates should be competent using at least one of the major statistical analysis programs, such as STATA, SPSS, R, or Python. Candidates should be able to run tests commonly used to evaluate causal relationships such as multiple regression, ANOVA, structural equation modeling, testing for mediation and moderation, and interrupted time series analysis. In addition to being able to run these tests, candidates should be sufficiently familiar with the theory to be able to discern which test is appropriate for a study design or data set.

The ideal candidate will be able to think critically and work independently.

Research assistants will work 10-20 hours per week.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled at Yale University
  • Strong quantitative skills and interest in the field of criminal justice
  • Experience with human subject research, particularly in the field of social sciences, is a plus.
  • Experience with RCTs is a plus.
  • Experience with scale construction (including factor analysis) is a plus.
