Prospective Students

Who should apply?

Prospective students are expected to provide evidence of strong interest in the fields of International Economics and Development Economics. Candidates should have had previous training in economics equivalent to an undergraduate major in economics, or an exceptionally strong background in quantitative methods. Students entering the program are expected to have adequate preparation in mathematics and economic analysis. Some students will be required to complete summer courses in mathematics and English prior to beginning the program. Successful candidates demonstrate in their personal statement both how they would benefit from the program and excel as well as what unique perspective they bring to the program. Applicants are also required to submit several informative letters of reference. To earn the Masters degree, students must satisfactorily complete a program of eight graduate courses. The five core courses and three elective courses are expected to be completed in one year of study.
